At the 2026 Georgia Forestry Association Annual Conference in Jekyll Island, GFA recognized an organization that has truly embodied the mission of the Association and Foundation, in keeping Georgia as the leading forestry state in the nation by protecting and maintaining Georgia’s working forests, the Georgia Forestry Commission.
The Commission was key in the recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene and they also fought the south Georgia wildfires earlier this year, working tirelessly to contain the flames in a timely manner. They go above and beyond in their mission to keep healthy and abundant forests that support a robust industry while providing social, environmental and financial benefits to all of Georgia.
