🐍 The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has been petitioned to list the eastern diamondback rattlesnake as a threatened or endangered species.

  • GFA members are encouraged to document sightings of the snake by filling out a survey administered by National Council for Air & Stream Improvement. learn more →

😺 USFWS also announced Endangered Species Act protections for a population of catfish called the frecklebelly madtom.

  • The listing provides an exception for silviculture practices and forest management activities that use State-approved best management practices. learn more →

🪵 Jamestown placed the first glulam beam at 619 Ponce, a four-story, mixed-use mass timber building next to Ponce City Market. learn more →

🌲 Living Carbon, a biotechnology company, is testing genetically modified trees that grow at a faster rate and absorb more CO2. learn more →

🇺🇸 GFA is monitoring Farm Bill discussions with a continued focus on conservation programs. Congressional Research Service estimates the next farm bill will include at least $57.5 billion for conservation and forestry programs. learn more →
