This information comes from the Georgia Forestry Commission. Applications at the bottom of this page.
Southern Pine Beetle Cost Share Program Open for Applications
The cost share program for Southern Pine Beetle (SPBP) is now accepting applications. The purpose of the SPBP is to help landowners implement various silvicultural practices that will prevent (or minimize) impacts of southern pine beetle infestation and restore healthy, more beetle-resistant forests. The sign up period will be open through August 31. Click here to view the SPB application and apply. Additional information can be found on the cost share webpage or by contacting your local GFC forester. The highlights of the program are listed below.
  • Limit of $10,000 per landowner for SPB prevention practices.
  • Prevention practices offered– non-commercial thinning of loblolly/shortleaf pine stands ($70/acre), release of loblolly/shortleaf pine stands($40/acre), prescribed burning of loblolly/shortleaf pine stands or longleaf stands 10 years old or less ($5/acre).
  • Restoration Practices offered- loblolly pine, slash pine, shortleaf pine, eastern white pine, longleaf pine, and commercial hardwoods ($100/acre)
  • Cost share payments must not exceed 75% of the documented landowner cost
Invasive Plant Control Cost Share Program Open for Applications

The highlights of the program are listed below.
