GFA Seeking Forest Policy Legislative Intern for 2027

The Georgia Forestry Association (GFA) is the premier advocate for forestry business in Georgia. The Forest Policy Legislative Intern will support the Association’s efforts to develop and advance policy and advocacy in initiatives that add value to the forestry community and solidify the state’s position as the #1 Forestry State in the Nation.

  • Why it matters: GFA was founded in 1907 to advocate for the state’s forestry community at the local, state and federal level. Today, advocacy remains the top priority, and GFA is considered a leader in natural resource policy development in Georgia and across the U.S. South. This position will allow you to work with a dynamic, strategic and aggressive team while providing you with a broad set of skills to support your long-term professional development.
  • The job details: Our intern will work full time with the GFA government affairs team, during the 2027 Georgia Legislative Session. You will report to the Georgia State Capitol each day and work under the direction of GFA’s VP of Government Affairs to track legislation, monitor committee hearings, prepare briefs, and engage in the legislative process. The internship will be a real look into the world of policy making and government relations work.

PROGRAM SUMMARY

  • Location: In-Person (Atlanta / Georgia State Capitol)
  • Duration: January 11 – April 15, 2027
  • Compensation: Stipend

REQUIREMENTS

  • Selected candidates will report to the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta, Georgia each day of the legislative session.
  • Applicant must be currently enrolled in collegiate coursework at an accredited university (preferably in a forestry, natural resources, business / economics, public affairs or related degree).
  • Displays excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A self-starter with the ability to collaborate with various teams
  • A true interest in forestry, policy, and the legislative process is strongly encouraged.
