Williamson brings forestry education, business knowledge and a passion for stewardship to GFA’s landowner outreach efforts.

FORSYTH, Ga. — The Georgia Forestry Association (GFA) is pleased to welcome Sam Williamson to its staff as a full-time Conservation Outreach Forester, supporting the Association’s efforts to connect Georgia landowners with the knowledge, resources and programs available to help them manage their property.
Williamson joined GFA in 2026 as part of the Landowner Outreach team, where he works alongside fellow outreach staff to help landowners better understand the potential of their land and the resources available to support the conservation of Georgia’s forests.
A trained forester with a background in both traditional Southeastern forestry and forest business, Williamson brings a broad perspective to landowner outreach. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia in 2024 and completed his Master of Forest Resources in 2026. His education and professional experiences have included studying broadleaf forest ecology in Europe, exploring sustainability in Australia, and working on wetland mitigation banks in Georgia and South Carolina.
These experiences have helped shape Williamson’s approach to forestry, combining practical forest management and business considerations with an appreciation for the ecological value of working forests.
As a Conservation Outreach Forester, Williamson helps landowners navigate the opportunities available to them, from understanding forest management options to identifying resources that support long-term stewardship. His work contributes to GFA’s broader commitment to ensuring landowners have access to the information and connections they need to make informed decisions about their property.
With deep family roots in Georgia, Williamson now lives and works in Augusta, where his family has called home for five generations.
Through its Landowner Outreach team, GFA works to connect private forest landowners with educational opportunities, professional expertise and resources that support the long-term health and productivity of Georgia’s working forests.
