Georgia Forestry Association Seeks Summer Intern

The Georgia Forestry Association, the premier advocate for forestry in the state, is currently seeking applicants for the 2016 Summer Intern position.

The Georgia Forestry Association (GFA), founded in 1907, is one of the oldest forestry and conservation organizations in the U.S. The GFA advances its mission by having a strong legislative advocacy presence, managing environmental education programs, supporting research, developing leaders and collaborating with key stakeholders who share common goals. The association has over 2500 members across all sectors of the forestry sector in Georgia.

The 2016 summer internship program will provide a student the opportunity to network with Georgia’s forestry community, learn about the critical issues facing the industry in Georgia, and support the mission of the organization.

Duties include:

  • Lead a focus project by collecting data, conducting interviews and writing a report on an issue identified of importance by GFA leadership.
  • Special Project: Assisting with the Annual Conference at the Jekyll Island Convention Center (July 23-25), including preparation and on site coordination.
  • Assisting with day-to-day operations of the Association.

Skills necessary:

  • Basic computer skills in Word, Excel and Outlook a must. Advanced knowledge a plus.
  • Good communication skills important to interact with membership.
  • Must be reliable and able to work independently on projects.
  • Willingness to do what it takes to get the job completed.

GFA office hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (Annual Conference hours are an exception to this schedule). Pay is $9.00-$11.00/hour, depending on skill level and applicable experience. No overtime, benefits or holiday pay. Must provide own housing and have reliable transportation.
