GFA Announces Forestry Forward Event Series

Forestry ForwardWith the introduction of Andres Villegas as its new president, today the Georgia Forestry Association (GFA) announced the Forestry Forward event series. The inaugural event series will be located in towns across the state, including Albany, Athens, Columbus, Macon, Oliver (Savannah area), Peachtree City, Rome and Valdosta.

GFA members and those who depend on Georgia’s working forests are encouraged to attend the local, reception-style events to learn more about the priorities of the Association and the challenges facing working forest landowners and the forest industry. GFA is also partnering with Dr. Dale Greene, Dean of University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, for the Athens and Columbus events. Attendees at those events also will have the opportunity to meet Dr. Greene and learn about the future of the Warnell School.

“Given the economic and environmental importance of Georgia’s forests, we have excellent potential for growth,” Villegas said. “I am excited to have the opportunity to visit with our members and learn how the Association can help maximize the long-term vitality of Georgia’s working forests and forest product industries.”
