Get Reimbursed for Forest Management Practices

Ansley Whitley
Landowner Outreach Coordinator

What’s happening: The Georgia Forestry Commission—the state agency charged with protecting and sustaining Georgia’s forests—has opened two cost-share programs for private forest landowners.

Why it matters: Funding is available to help landowners improve timber stands, strengthen forest health and control invasive plants.

How we can help: Georgia Forestry Association Outreach Foresters can explain the programs, guide you through the application and connect you with the resources needed to complete the work.

Deadline: Friday, July 3, 2026.

Explore the programs:

Georgia Resilient Forest Incentives Program (GRIP) →

  • Reimburses up to 75% of costs for practices including non-commercial thinning, prescribed burning, understory mulching, and reforestation.
    10-acre minimum.

Invasive Plant Control Program (IPCP) →

  • Pays $60 per acre (up to $10,000) to eliminate kudzu, privet, Japanese climbing fern, and other invasive species. 3-acre minimum on properties of at least 10 forested acres.

Not sure where to start? Ansley Whitley and Mike Harrell, representatives of GFA’s Landowner Technical Assistance Program, can help you understand your options and prepare your application before the deadline. Please submit your email through the link below to be contacted.
