Storm Recovery Workshop: Timber Management & Urban Forestry

WORKSHOP FOCUS:

Extreme weather events are causing considerable damage to managed forests and urban trees in middle and southern Georgia. Join this day-long workshop designed for Extension Agents, forest landowners, and managers to learn from UGA faculty and Extension specialists about:

  • Timber management lessons learned from Hurricanes Irene and Michael on forest stand assessment, lean pine recovery, reforestation, and invasive species management.
  • Urban tree considerations for storm preparedness and recovery: tree risk assessment and wind damage, tree health, and species selection for replanting.

 

WORKSHOP AGENDA:

Morning presentations at the Coffee County Extension office
Lunch (provided)
Afternoon outdoor field discussions at the South Georgia State College campus
