Join QF, GADNR and Tall Timbers for a Learn N’ Burn at Paradise Public Fishing Area! A one-day, hands-on prescribed fire training designed for landowners who desire to use prescribed fire as a land management tool and are interested in learning the basics of safe burning. Participants will take part in a live prescribed burn, gain practical experience using fire tools, and learn directly from experienced fire managers.
Lunch included with registration.
What you can expect:
- Active participation in a live prescribed burn.
- Learn prescribed burning techniques that you can use on your own land.
- Learn about prescribed burn planning, burn permits, smoke management, fire weather, liability laws, and financial resources.
- Use a drip torch and other tools of the trade.
- Ask questions of experienced professionals.
Requirements of the day:
- This is an outdoor, all-day training — come prepared for weather and physical activity.
- Walking on uneven terrain and carrying tools.
- Requirement to wear natural fiber clothing (cotton, wool, linen, silk) and leather boots.
- Bring eye protection, leather gloves, a bandana, sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle.
- All participants must sign a hold-harmless liability waiver on the day of the event.
