On Feb. 17, Georgia Forestry Association (GFA) member Larry Spillers of Roberta was sworn in by Governor Nathan Deal to the Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) Board of Directors, a panel of individuals from the forestry community created by the state legislature in 1921 to oversee forestry programs conducted by GFC.
With more than 35 years’ experience in the forest industry, Spillers is currently the Georgia operations manager of Jordan Forest Products in Barnesville. He serves on the board of directors of the GFA and is past chairman of the Georgia Sustainable Forest Initiative Implementation Committee. He and his wife, Pam, have two children and six grandchildren. Spillers joins Chairman Wesley Langdale, Valdosta; Jimmy Allen, Chula; Jim L. Gillis Jr., Soperton; Robert Pollard, Appling; Earl Smith, Greensboro; and H.G. Yeomans, Swainsboro.
