Earlier this month, the Georgia Forestry Association and Georgia Forestry Foundation hosted its fourth Landowner Field Day in Alapaha, bringing together 40+ landowners and partners for a day of in-the-woods learning and connection. The event focused on providing practical insights and real-world applications to help landowners better manage and sustain their forests.
We gathered at the Gaskins Forest Education Center, hosted by former Georgia and National Tree Farmer of the Year, Heather Brasell. Throughout the day, attendees participated in a series of sessions led by forestry professionals and statewide partners. Topics included education and outreach, understory restoration, longleaf pine straw management, Hurricane Helene recovery, chronic wasting disease (CWD) in White-tailed deer, and prescribed fire. The inclusion of a landowner testimonial provided a valuable perspective, allowing attendees to hear directly from someone navigating many of the same challenges and opportunities of owning timberland.
Thank you to all our partners for coming out to support this program and to our sponsors for their contributions. Click HERE to access photos from the Alapaha event.
