Tell the Story of Forestry in Your Hometown

Forests play a vital role in our daily lives – no matter where you live in the state or nation. From cleaning our air and water to providing wildlife habitat and sustainable products, Georgia’s forests are critical to our survival, comfort and progress. But, the forest doesn’t take care of itself, it is supported by thousands of Georgians who steward the land and create innovative products for us to use.

The fact is, many Georgians take working forests for granted, and they don’t understand the connection between the trees they see on their daily commute to the products they use every day. That is where the Home Team Initiative comes in. By becoming a member of this program, you will receive training and resources on how to become a champion for forestry in your own community. Whether it is speaking to a 3rd grade science class or a rotary club meeting, you will be armed to serve as a forestry champion in your community.

What Can You Expect?

Armed with a basic knowledge of the importance of forestry to our state’s economy, ecology and culture, you will be able to share the good story of forestry throughout your community. We will provide you with a playbook, training and resources to reach the following audiences:
  • Local Civic Groups (i.e. Rotary, Kwanis, etc.)
  • Education / School Groups (i.e. 4-H, FFA, Boys & Girls Clubs)
  • Forest Industry Employees (i.e. local mill employees)
