Through a new partnership with Keeping Forests, the Georgia Forestry Association is seeking applications for an adept and highly-motivated communications professional to serve as Keeping Forests Communications Specialist.
- Putting southern forests in the spotlight: Embedded in GFA’s Communications Team, the Communications Specialist will be focused on advancing Keeping Forests’ mission to promote the ecological, economic and social importance of working forests across the U.S. South. Day to day, this individual will will be responsible for the development of engaging and creative content to promote Keeping Forests’ work across a variety of online and traditional channels.
- Why this work matters: It’s projected that by 2060, about 23 million acres of southern woodlands will be lost, primarily as a result of increased population and urbanization. That’s a portion of land equal to 19 Grand Canyons powering our economy, providing our way of life and sustaining our ecosystem. Keeping Forests is a diverse coalition of companies and organizations established to ensure that southern forests have a future. The collaborative is focused on conserving 245 million acres of existing forests by developing emerging markets that support private landowners and shedding light on why this land matters.
