Southern Pines Technical College is offering the following logging / forestry education classes at their campus in Waycross on Friday November 6^th, 2020. All courses have been approved (CLE) and (CFE) credit. There are four total classes (2 hour segments) so possible 8 hours total credit.

8:00 a.m. 
Water Quality and BMP’s
Speaker:  Matt Mrizek (GFC, Water Quality Specialist)
Water Quality updates and BMP’s for logging/forestry                    

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.   
Safety in the Woods
Speaker:  Scott Copeland (Guffin & Eleam Insurance)
Identify hazards at the logging site.  Communication between employees on the job, safely setting out loads, and securely delivering forest products to the mill.

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Record Keeping: Harvest Permits and Timber Tax Forms
Speakers:  Diane Davis (Ware County Tax Office) and Tommy Peagler
Securing harvesting permits and road bonds from local officials.  Correctly completing the timber tax form after harvest.  Maintaining accurate records.

3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Aesthetics: Creating a positive public image of Logging
Speaker:  Tommy Peagler
Implementing harvesting regimes that can influence positive public perception.  Leaving the logging site in good condition.

The cost for each course:
2 hours: $40.00
8 hours: $160.00
