This past summer, at GFA’s Annual Conference & Forestry Expo in Savannah, we were pleased to honor several members for their exceptional service and dedication in keeping Georgia as the leading forestry state in the nation.
The Champion of Forestry Award is presented to individuals who have supported the mission and vision of the Association and who have dedicated a significant amount of time and effort through volunteer service. This year Champion of Forestry Awards were presented to:
- James Norris- Forest Resources Manager at Battle Lumber Company
- Earl and Wanda Barrs- Owners of Gully Branch Tree Farm
- Larry Fudge- Vice President at the Langdale Company
- Troy Harris- Managing Director of Jamestown Timberland and Innovative Wood Products
- Frank Sorrells- Fire Chief at Georgia Forestry Commission
“Each year we are honored to recognize individuals who are dedicated to GFA’s mission,” stated Senior Vice President, Matt Hestad. “But their passion often goes well beyond our vision and is the foundation upon which all 220million acres of Georgia’s working forests are built upon. The contributions made by those we call Champions of Forestry are part of why Georgia is the leading forestry state in the nation.”
