Sen. John Kennedy

Senator John F. Kennedy (R-Macon) has represented Georgia’s 18th Senate District since 2015 and currently serves as Senate President Pro Tempore. In this role, he presides over the Senate in the Lieutenant Governor’s absence and manages the chamber’s administrative functions.

A Republican leader, he previously served as Governor Deal’s Floor Leader and as Senate Majority Caucus Chairman. He chairs the Senate Committee on Administrative Affairs and serves on several key committees, including Judiciary, Banking and Financial Institutions, and Appropriations.

Sen. Kennedy holds both an Economics degree and a law degree from Mercer University. He is a partner at the Macon law firm James-Bates-Brannan-Groover, LLP, specializing in civil litigation and business law.

An active community leader, he serves on the board of the Central Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America and has held leadership roles in the Georgia legal community. He and his wife Susan live in Monroe County and have two children.
