Dr. Lili Cai is an Associate Professor of Forest Biomaterials at the University of Georgia (UGA) Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources. Her research focuses on advancing the forest bioeconomy through innovative wood protection technologies and the high-value utilization of renewable forest resources. Dr. Cai's program integrates wood science, materials engineering, microbiology, chemistry, and nanotechnology to develop durable wood products, fire-safe materials, and bio-based technologies that enhance the value, performance, and sustainability of forest resources. In addition to her research, Dr. Cai has active Extension and Outreach appointments that connect research with education, industry, and the public. Her outreach focuses on K to 12 education, increasing public awareness of the value of forest biomaterials, and inspiring students to pursue careers in forestry, renewable materials, and manufacturing.
