Doug Maddams is a social performance leader with more than twenty years of experience advising multi-national companies. Having worked in corporate and operational roles, he brings a specialized skillset to understand and apply Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) fundamentals. Doug has a comprehensive practical understanding of inherent social complexities and their impact of business, communities, and stakeholders.
During his career in the energy industry, Doug worked with indigenous peoples globally to negotiate inclusive land access compensation agreements, utilize Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) principles in stakeholder consultations, and assist in creating comprehensive development programs.
Doug helps clients operationalize commitments to managing cultural heritage risk and to respecting the human rights of indigenous people. His finance and business background gives him the technical insight to quantify impacts and inherent risks along with integrating ESG into a holistic business model.
Doug shares his leadership and professional experience by participating in national and international industry associations, a multi-stakeholder human rights and security initiative, and the United Nations Global Compact.
Doug and his wife, Nicky, recently moved from Texas to Virginia where they enjoy life on 22 acres along with 9 miniature donkeys.
