The Georgia Forestry Association (GFA) and the Georgia SFI Implementation Committee in collaboration with the Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) and the N.C. State Tree Improvement Program is hosting a landowner field day on February 27, 2019, at GFC’s Arrowhead Seed Orchard and Tree Breeding Center in Cochran, GA. Learn more about the latest in seedling genetics, tree breeding and the financial and growth impacts on your land at this unique event.

    • How do we make advancements in our tree improvement program?
    • Demonstration of control crossing to generate families for testing and to generate new selections for the next cycle
  5. Selection and Potential Returns – Steve McKeand, Kitt Payn, Austin Heine
    • Visit superior tree selection in the 1998 progeny test
    • Discuss percent of poles in this progeny test and the potential returns to landowners
